It really is the little things

I find myself trying to think of wise, unique and life-changing tips to give dads but always seem to end up thinking of all the little things that can mean so much and don't actually cost any money.

So, starting today, if you don't do so already, why don't you start taking the rubbish out without being asked or without waiting for the bin to be too full (you may find an argument-free exit of the rubbish from the household rather satisfying). In fact, any little task that you can do around the house, from quickly making the bed in the morning to washing a few dishes (even if you don't have time or energy to finish all of them) or, if you're one of the lucky ones, helping load or unload the dishwasher will be hugely appreciated and, let's face it, if you make your partner smile on a daily basis, she is more likely to be in a good mood all day every day, the atmosphere at home will be more cheerful and the whole family will feel more at ease.

Little things like these don't have to take more than a few minutes each day and can make a huge difference.

If you already do this kind of thing to help out, I can only say: bravo and keep it up!

Mr Tapas (hello husband!) is getting very good at helping with little things like these and I actually find it makes a huge difference to my day and the best part is not even having to ask. In fact, I couldn't help smiling this morning when I saw him put his dirty clothes in the laundry basket, because it means one less chore for me. See, it really is the little things!
