This week’s tip is short and simple: give your girl time off. Whether it is taking the kids out for a few hours so that she can have the house to herself, booking her a spa treatment or arranging for her to meet her friends to do something she used to thoroughly enjoy doing pre-kids. Just think back to whatever it was that she really enjoyed doing in the pre-kids era and make it happen. It’s easy, doesn’t have to cost the earth and it can mean the world to her.
This is especially important when there is a young baby in the house, it may become very easy for her to lose herself in between feeds, chores, baby groups, trying to set a routine that works...
If you want to go the extra mile, do some of the cleaning, washing up or general tidying up while she is out. It will be a very special way of surprising her when she comes back.
If she is going to stay in, get one of her favourite books, magazines, drinks, flowers, movies, run her a bath in a very clean bathroom... if you have a little think (or just ask her) you could get it very right.
A bit of time off knowing that the children are safe will leave her feeling refreshed, revitalised and ready to tackle all the daily chores with a brighter mind which, let's face it, will make everyone feel happy. A rested happy mummy means a happy family and lots of renewed energy for the days ahead and, extremely important, she will have an opportunity to feel like herself again.
