Thermomix: ordering and delivery in the UK

You may remember that just last week I was telling you about my recent Thermomix demo at home. To buy or not to buy, that was indeed the question. After much thinking and deliberating (the price tag is initially very scary) buy I did.

Ordering was easy, I told my demonstrator (Lesley from Me and my Thermie) that I was ready to order the TM31 with one bowl (you can also order it with two bowls), she filled in an order form straight away for UK Thermomix and emailed me a copy.

Then all I had to do was call the main office with my payment details. I chose an interest-free payment plan that didn't incur any administration charges (I don't like paying extra money or interest if I can avoid it). I have paid a deposit and then I just have to pay 2 more payments that will be charged to my card, the first one in a month and the second one the month after.

You can also give your demonstrator your payment details on the spot at the moment of the demonstration of course! I am just the thinking type.

There are quite a few options within the payment plans, you can actually end up with a very low monthly payment and, having spoken to two different people at head office already, they seem quite flexible and like a rather nice bunch so, if in doubt, just give them a ring to discuss and, of course, to ask for the payment plan options.

Thermomix: ordering and delivery in the UK
Just arrived
I placed my order on a Wednesday afternoon and the machine and the free In the Mix recipe book included in this month's offer (August 2012) had arrived in the early afternoon of the Friday (not even a full 2 days later), DPD texted me on Thursday to let me know that my ordered would be delivered on Friday and then again texted me on Friday morning to give me a one hour slot, fortunately the driver arrived at the beginning of the slot when LittleT was sleeping her nap.

If you order one in the UK, just remember to do it before midday if you want it the next day because, let's face it, once you've taken the decision you want it straight away! In my case it didn't matter as LittleT had a doctor appointment on Thursday and I didn't know how long I was going to be out.

It was a bit daunting when it arrived, it is a lot of machine for poor little me*, so I collected myself and started opening cardboard, it was all very well packed and easy to take out.

I have to confess that the only thing I did with the Thermomix that day was start reading the user manual, clean all relevant parts, place it with the Varoma on top on my counter (shiny in preparation for the new arrival), continue reading the manual and perhaps admire it a bit... but mainly I kept on being sidetracked by the three Thermomix recipe books I suddenly had at home and a huge headache that couldn't have hit me at a worst time.

Thermomix: ordering and delivery in the UKThe Thermomix TM31 comes, as standard, with the Fast and Easy Cooking Recipe Book for the UK, keep an eye on freebies and offers each month. If you understand Spanish, I can fully recommend getting the recipe book that is delivered as standard with the Thermomix in Spain. You can buy it for £19, they obviously are ready to be shipped with the machine as mine came in the same delivery and, very important, the recipes look right up my alley.

Thermomix: ordering and delivery in the UKThey also give you the option of replacing the UK recipe book (Fast and Easy Cooking) with another of the standard recipe books for other countries so I could have just asked to have the machine delivered with the Spanish book, but I was keen on having both.

The good news is that it comes with a suggested meal plan for the first 7 days of use, this in itself was a bit of a relief. I may or may not have followed the suggestions... come back soon to find out!

*I feel that I have to confess that, when I say "poor little me", I give the wrong idea, I am not that little, perhaps low-calorie soups in the Thermomix from now on. I love soups!

If you live in the UK and you already have a Thermomix or are considering buying one, I run the fantastic Thermomix Owners UK Facebook group. Come join the Thermie chat and, while at it, find me on Instagram (I do go on about it a lot on there).
