Instructions
Pour 500 ml water (cold) in the inner pot, trivet in place (lower setting if it’s the Duo Crisp trivet), place the ribs on the trivet jenga style so that they can balance on each other.
Make sure the sealing ring is in properly (press down on it following its circumference a few times). Lock the lid in. Steam release handle pointing to Sealing (no need to do anything if you have a self-sealing lid).
Press Pressure Cook / Manual and programme 15 minutes, do natural pressure release at the end, they can be on keep warm for a while if you’re doing other things.
To glaze:
Duo Crisp: Discard the cooking water. Quickly dry the inner pot and place back on the base. Place ribs in an ovenproof dish (I use an enamel dish) and smother with BBQ sauce (or sauce of your choice). Swap the Crisp trivet to the higher setting. Place the dish on the trivet. Air Frying lid on, press Broil (204ºC / 400ºF) and programme 5 minutes. Enjoy!
Oven or grill: Place ribs in an ovenproof dish or tray and smother with BBQ sauce (or sauce of your choice) and pop in a preheated hot oven or grill for 5 minutes. Enjoy!
Notes
*Instant Pot TerminologyQuick pressure release (QPR, also called quick release or QR) means venting the steam as soon as the pressure cooking process finishes, i.e. moving the steam release handle from Sealing to Venting.Natural pressure release (NPR, also called natural release or NR) means letting the float valve pop back down of its own accord, so basically you don’t need to do anything at the end and can keep your feet up. If it takes over 15 minutes, you're ok to release the rest of the steam (by turning the steam release handle to Venting) that may be left in order to unlock and open the lid.Sometimes you'll see me talk of a combination of NPR followed by a QPR. For example a recipe may have a 4 minute NPR followed by a QPR. You wait for 4 minutes at the end of the pressure cooking time and then do a QPR by moving the steam release handle from Sealing to Venting.
