Middle Eastern warm spices make this super quick and easy Baharat Spice Mix Recipe. You can add more or less heat by reducing or increasing the amount of black pepper, it's all explained in the recipe.

This Baharat blend (you may see it spelled as Bharat) is tried-and-tested as delicious with our popular Instant Pot Baharat Chicken and amazing with our Baharat Mushrooms. And if you're reading this in the Autumn or Fall, you may love it in our Roasted Pumpkin Soup.

In fact, it makes enough to try one of each. If you love the flavour of this lovely seasoning, then make a bigger batch next time, just double, triple, etc the ingredients, it's that easy.

    Prep Time 5 minutes mins

    Ingredients

    • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
    • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
    • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
    • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper this means the mix has less heat, if you don't mind heat, add 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper
    • ½ teaspoon ground cardamom or allspice, I used allspice this time as I only had cardamom pods and couldn't be bothered toasting them, removing the seed, grinding it… as this is the easy version
    • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • ¼ teaspoon ground clove
    • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

    Instructions

    • Mix all the ingredients and use in our Baharat Chicken, Baharat Mushrooms or Pumpkin Soup recipes. That simple. Keep in an airtight container.
