I'm trying to build a bit of a "database" of recipes for beginners and this Instant Pot Corn on the Cob with video had to be part of it.

Sweetcorn smothered in butter, sprinkled with salt and pepper... doesn't it feel like a huge treat?

    Notes

    *Terminology
Quick pressure release (QPR, also called quick release or QR) means venting the steam as soon as the pressure cooking process finishes, i.e. moving the steam release handle from Sealing to Venting.
Natural pressure release (NPR, also called natural release or NR) means letting the float valve pop back down of its own accord, so basically you don’t need to do anything at the end and can keep your feet up. If it takes over 15 minutes, you're ok to release the rest of the steam (by turning the steam release handle to Venting) that may be left in order to unlock and open the lid.
Sometimes you'll see me talk of a combination of NPR followed by a QPR. For example a recipe may have a 4 minute NPR followed by a QPR. You wait for 4 minutes at the end of the pressure cooking time and then do a QPR by moving the steam release handle from Sealing to Venting.

Timings for Instant Pot Corn on the Cob

My magic time for Instant Pot Corn on the Cob is 5 minutes.

You might prefer more or less time.

    We all have different tastes.

Follow this method and, if it's overcooked for your taste, put the lid back on and take note to cook longer next time.

If you like it crunchier, make a note to cook it less time next time.

Can I pressure cook and then pop in the BBQ?

Oh yes you can pressure cook with these timings then char it on the BBQ. It works great as you can see in the photo below.

Making it perfect for summer food al fresco.

Of course, you can pop more things on the BBQ with it and have a feast! Serving suggestion below 😉

Can I pressure cook it in the husk?

    Yes, you can, same timings!

Am I the only one to eat corn on the cob as a snack?

    Answers on a postcard 😉
