    Ninja Speedi Pros and Cons

Published: Jul 16, 2024 · Modified: Jan 24, 2025 by Maria Bravo · This post may contain affiliate links · 1 Comment

I am often asked my thoughts about the Ninja Speedi Pros and Cons so I thought it was time to put them in writing on the website too.

I have had my Ninja Speedi 10-in-1 Rapid Cooker and Air Fryer ON400UK for a year. I haven't posted any recipes yet but have written a fair few.

    Ninja Speedi Pros

    • Like all Ninjas it's well-built, robust
    • Ninja's customer service in the UK is great
    • The air fryer function is good, although make sure you read the cons on that matter too
    • The ability to do layered cooking is great
    • The steam air fry and steam bake functions are great
    • It's great for toasting, especially bagels!
    • It's very light in weight which makes moving it around very easy
    • Fantastic for multi-level reheating. I use enamel dishes for this and it has replaced a microwave which I now choose not to have. You can reheat one dish on the bottom of the liner an another one on the top shelf, it works great!

    Ninja Speedi Cons

    • It could also be called the "steami", it releases a lot of steam into your kitchen constantly which can be an issue if you have ventilation issues
    • With that steam of course you get more smells in your kitchen too
    • It doesn’t pressure cook. The Ninja 14 in 1 or 15 in 1 do the same, in fact they do more so they are worth considering
    • The slow cook function is debatable
    • Makes a fair bit of noise
    • The top shelf is quite close to the air fryer lid which can be problematic, there are ways around it but I’d prefer it to be located slightly lower down, more half way.
    • As a result, the inside of the lid can get very greasy and it is difficult to clean without taking it apart, which I haven't dared to do yet!
    • No memory, which is something I find a bit frustrating on all Ninja appliances
    • The inner pot / liner is non-stick
    • The lid is not detachable and it needs a fair bit of height to open fully so it has to be pulled right to the front of the kitchen counter in order to use it, while you should always pull your air fryer forward anyway, this one has to be pulled all the way to the front but it's fairly light in weight at least

Take measurements, the lid is on a hinge and so you need to make sure you have enough space under your cupboards for it to fully stand up.

Air fryers need a clearance around them when working too and this applies to the Ninja Foodi so make sure you check out the measurements before buying.

What other Ninja gadgets do the same?

The Ninja Smartlid 11 in 1, 14 in 1 and Ninja 15 in 1 are great, they do pretty much the same (including the Steam Roast and Steam Bake functions).

And have the additional pressure function which makes them less steamy. I have had the 14 in 1 for a couple of years and it's great.

Hope that helps you choose, I have a few recipes written up but not published yet. Have you bought the Ninja Speedi? Let me know if you need them.

I bought my Speedi in August 2024 and have only just got round to using the slow cook function (which you mention above as debatable ) Mine is not debatable , it is useless.
On Hi heat for 3 hours it pretty much boils dry whilst on Lo heat , after 3 hours it has only reached 75 centigrade.
I love every other function I have used and would be grateful to hear of a solution to my slow cook problem.
I notice online there is a reset sequence for the ninja foodi to sort this out but cannot find one for the speedi.
