How to serve
Serve as they are or we've always loved them with whipped cream. Of course, you could add chocolate sauce, salted caramel sauce or a scoop of ice cream, vanilla or chocolate or both will go really well.
What biscuits work best?
Digestives, custard creams, bourbon, nice biscuits and also chocolate chip cookies are great. We sometimes use the Graze Cocoa Vanilla Oat Boosts. Basically, this is a very versatile dish.
In fact, you can use just the chocolate and not the biscuits.
How long to air fry Baked Bananas
It's going to depend on the ripeness of the bananas. Less ripe bananas are going to take longer to go soft. Ripe bananas will take less time. Just follow the recipe and add time if necessary. It's going to be delicious anyway.
Ripe bananas are best but not too ripe as they'll fall apart.
If your bananas are super ripe, we recommend making our Chocolate Ice Cream recipe instead.
Can I make this in the microwave?
I've been making these Baked Bananas as a quick sweet treat for decades, since well before air fryers were a thing. Back in the day I used to do this in the microwave for 1 minute, adding time at 10 second increments if necessary.
Will this work in my air fryer?
Yes, it will work in any air fryer, place it in an oven proof dish, my go-tos are enamel dishes, and set the temperature at 180ºC (355 ºF if you're in the States).
📖 Recipe

Ninja CRISPi Baked Bananas Recipe - Air Fryer
Equipment
- 1 Ninja Crispi Air Fryer
Ingredients
- 2-3 bananas ripe
- 3 biscuits your choice, digestives work great as do custard creams, bourbon creams (we've even used Graze Cocoa Vanilla)
- 40-60 g dark chocolate or chocolate of your choice, chocolate chips will work too
Instructions
- Peel the bananas and lay them on the small glass base of the Ninja CRISPi without the crisper tray (you can do it with the crisper tray but it can get a bit messy and it doesn't make much difference).
- Break the biscuits into small chunks by hand and the chocolate with the help of a knife (or use chocolate chips for ease).
- Carefully and without going all the way through (just to the middle), insert in each banana alternately a chunk of biscuit then a chunk of chocolate and so on. Like in the photos.
- Air Fry function for 5 minutes, the exact time is going to depend on the ripeness of the bananas, if not quite soft at the end, add a couple of minutes. It'll also depend on your personal taste, they're so delicious that after a few goes you'll know exactly how you like your Baked Bananas.
