    Equipment

    • 1 Air fryer

    Ingredients

    • 1 brown onion sliced
    • 1 red onion sliced
    • 1 red pepper sliced
    • 350 g chicken breast sliced
    • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
    • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
    • 1 dash soy sauce

    To serve

    • Tortilla wraps
    • Fresh coriander
    • Soured cream
    • Guacamole
    • Salsa
    • Grated cheese I used mature cheddar, use your favourite

    Instructions

    • Add the ingredients to the air fryer's basket and mix well together.
    • In air fryers that count down immediately (ie without a preheating phase), like the Ninja brand: 14 minutes at 180℃ (355 degrees Fahrenheit if you're in the United States).
In air fryers that count down after a preheating phase, like the Instant Brands air fryers: 12 minutes at 180℃ (355 degrees Fahrenheit if you're in the United States)
    • Mixing it or shaking it a couple of times during that time.
    • Then Air Fry 2 minutes at 205ºC (400 degrees Fahrenheit if you're the United States). Check that the chicken is cooked through.
    • Serve in the wraps with the coriander, soured cream, guacamole, salsa and grated cheese (or your choice of these). Or it would be great tossed with salad or pasta or even rice!

    Notes

Trying to keep the cost down? It's lovely just with the soured cream, cheese and coriander (if you like coriander).
Note: Airfryers are like ovens, they're all different, so always check that your chicken is cooked through. I used the Instant Vortex for this recipe

What to serve with Air Fryer Smoky Chicken Fajitas

Toppings: soured cream, guacamole, coriander cilantro, salsa and grated cheese

I recommend tortilla wraps, coriander (cilantro), guacamole, salsa, soured cream and grated cheese.

It'd be also great stirred through pasta or rice!

Or even on its own or in lettuce wraps if you are on a low carb diet.

    Lots of possibilities basically.

Can I double up this recipe?

    Need to feed more people?

The Instant Vortex definitely has space to double up this recipe.

Keep an eye on the timings as you may need to increase them.

A wrap I warmed up for lunch the next day, in the Instant Vortex. Great use of leftovers

How to reheat in a wrap

All you have to do is wrap up the chilled fajita chicken in a tortilla wrap with your favourite sauces and a bit of cheese.

Then place in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes at 160ºC (320ºF if you're in the States).

    That's it.

    Why choose an air fryer?

As you probably know I love my air fryers.

Air fryers save energy, both physical and on your bills.

They're basically small ovens that don't need preheating.

The name air fryer is really poorly chosen, once you start thinking of them as a mini and super fast oven that doesn't need preheating, they become so much easier to use.

Make sure you read my post on How to use an Air Fryer, there's a handy video there.

For this recipe I used the Instant Vortex, which I love.

      This was amazing! 🙂
I used a fajita seasoning rather than just the smoked paprika, (and no soy sauce due to allergy in the youngest).
Loved cooking it in the vortex, so easy to clean up, and crispy.
We doubled the quantities, with good success, but didn't double the seasoning so the little ones would still be happy!
We served with homemade salsa, guacamole (both made with coriander), cheese and and lettuce in wraps! Delicious! So glad I found this recipe!

Fabulous and far too tasty - no leftovers here!
We love fajitas so were very excited to try cooking the chicken onions and pepper in the air fryer instead of cooking on the hob in a large frying pan.
Made a few adjustments as we had 600g chicken thigh fillets and the smoked paprika was the end of the jar. I sliced the fillets and added extra Chipotle chilli flakes and some home-mixed fajita seasoning.
It took 16 minutes to cook until it looked roasted because of the extra chicken.. and very large onions.
Definitely converted to this way of cooking fajita chicken and I'll be buying chicken too cook up for lunches using this method.
      Great recipe! Thank you 😊
